The above statement gives a great deal of insight into how Lutherans understand
the grace of God as it relates to faith and works. In this text, borrowed from
his explanation of the third article of the Apostles' Creed, Martin Luther
suggests that we can't even believe without the help of the Holy Spirit. The
song features a big gospel-style chorus arrangement with a soloist.
