Description

Set in Anywhere, North America, this funny 75-minute musical traces the fast-paced life of Dave, a single parent and hard-working middle manager at Biggins and Rude, a large company with large expectations. Dave's rise to the top brings him into tension with his family, his co-workers, his core values, and his future. Dave's questions are sharpened by the appearance of Lily, an old college friend. In the end, Dave makes hard choices that bring new qualities to his life.

The Race: A Simplicity Musical can be performed with a multi-generational cast of as few as 6 actors, or with as many as 11 plus a full chorus, children's choir, and extras.

Half of the purchase price of this product will go to the Hunger Program of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America under whose auspices this musical was producted.

An Audio CD
The audio compact disc includes separate tracks for each musical selection and is divided into two parts:
  • Tracks 1-11 are full-score versions of all of the main songs, including instrumentalists and singers. This version helps acquaint singers and musicians with complete sounds of the music as it might be fully performed.
  • Tracks 12-28 include instruments-only versions of the first 11 tracks plus all of the musical interludes. This version is useful for rehearsals, and as accompaniment for performances where instrumentalists are not available.
